Elcon Models race report

Maiden drive & win by Nick Anneveld !

Tremendous result by driver Nick Anneveld at Mach One.

After being busy building his new car last week, Nick went today to the track of Mach One in Helmond for the shake down of his car. With an engine that did not see one drop of fuel before and a fully new build car his personal goal was to see if he could reach the main final. It immediately went far above expectations for Nick. As Lars Sørensen did in Denmark, Nick decided to use this recipe and copy it.

After the first rounds getting used to his new rig, he soon got used to the behaviour of the car. In qualifying round 3 he realy got the hang of it and went on to win round 4. After the semi-finals Nick was ranked on an excellent 4th spot behind for example Oscar Koot and Michael van Dijk. These two experienced MMX pilots were showing on our pages already before with wins and good podium results. The place Nick made after qualifying is a good comparison for the level of racing Nick achieved being out with his car on the track less than 1 hour! And he achieved his goal already: attending the main final.

As often in the first rounds drivers want to lead at first corner. This time it wasn't different. And as Nick was able to drive round the piles of cars in the first rounds, he went immediately from 4th to 2nd spot. After about 10 minutes he took over the lead after some mistake from leader Oscar. Nick continued his steady drive, leading about 10 rounds, but lost a bit of pace and concentration. The chasing pack catched up and the lead changed quickly now between Tom Koopmanschap, Oscar and Nick, but in the end it was Nick pulling away. After that being fully awake, Nick went back to his previous lap times and drove a rock solid race pace again. He brought his car home first across the finish line. Well done Nick! Oscar settled in on an excellent 2nd place making it MMX on 1+2 on the podium. Belgian pilot Steven Stappaerts made a come-back to the race scene in superb 3rd.

A dream debut for Nick with his fully new MMX, well done all & congrats boys.
