Nico Regional Champ 2012



Hey everybody!

Last week-end, we were at Mougins track, near Nice, for the last round of the regional south championship.
Weather wasn't really clear with some clouds, but temperature was good, around 22-23°C but without rain.
Track was very difficult. Completely destroyed after the first round of practice the morning, so a hard track with lot of holes and undulations...

In promo class, we had 2 drivers on Agama to get the title in this class! The first one was our Sun Modelisme shop team driver Aldo Gigli, with the complete package, so Agama Bullitt Beta Piranha and JVD, the other one was Franck Vilar on Agama.
Qualifications for them were good, Aldo finished 5th and Franck 3rd, so good! They went up in the main after the semi, and the battle began!
But Franck had some problems with his wing after some big crashs on this difficult track, but he finished 4th! Good Job!
Aldo wasn't completely comfortable in the main final, but he managed to finish 5th, and he gets the Promotion South Regional Champion title! Well done buddy! Congratulations!

In open class, the race was fun too. I just had to be in the top 4 to get the title!
Qualifications were good for me, but I didn't enjoy the track at the beginning...
I won easily my semi, and went up in the main. I drove very safety on this very very difficult track just to not to do mistakes... I led the semi a long time, but I had to do one more fuel stop than the other drivers... I had 3 laps in advance on the 3rd, but the 2nd was at 5 seconds! So I came 2nd after the fuel stop, and I did a mistake too. I wasn't able to fight for the win because it remained 6minutes, and it wasn't my objective clearly... So I maintained and managed to get the 2nd place. And I began the new South Regional champion!! :D

So, a double title in the 2 classes for the complete package! And a second place for Agama in promo class! Awesome like the boss would say!!! :D

Next step, a last regional race near Monptellier, at Agde, for the fun with friends! And the next major event, the last european race of the season, the International Pierrefeu GP in 3 weeks!!!
