OFNA race report

Chad wins with his TS2sc Pro 2wd

Reported by Chad Bradley - Hot Rod Hobbies held thier monthly racer appreciation race Friday night, racing was good with 9 heats for the night. This is the second time I have got to race the new OFNA TS2 2wd short course truck. So far so good, the truck has been very easy to drive, traction this night was really good and very fun to drive. The truck is extremely stable in sweepers and jumps and lands extremely smooth. I Tqed all the rounds of qualifying and won the 7 minute main event, I tried to drive as smooth as possible and tried to limit my mistakes. I used the Novak 7.5 motor (geared it with a 19t pinion and 86 spur),the new Novak Pulse esc, Protek batteries and Proline M3 hole shot fronts and M4 hole shot rears. Next time I race I want to see how well I can get the truck working with the option gear diff. So far the truck is setup close to stock with the Ofna big bore shocks and will getting up a setup sheet very soon.

JConcepts race report

2012 Spektrum Off-Road Championship

Chad Due and Kody Numedahl clean house at Spektrum Off-Road Championships with JConcepts.

Each year Scotty Ernst Productions along with the famous Spektrum radio system brand bond together for an incredible event. 326 entries made up one of the best events to date as Scotty moved through the races as only the he can. The modified classes were once again hotly contested and Team Associated / JConcepts drivers Chad Due and Kody Numedahl were at the top of the field each round during qualifying. With the grippy JConcepts blue compound Bar Codes providing the traction, some of the best drivers in the business battled for 4 rounds of qualifying.

At the end of qualifying Chad Due reigned supreme by placing himself in the TQ position in 2wd buggy, Racing Truck and 2wd SCT modified. Kody Numedahl with the freshly released, JConcepts equipped B44.2, took the all important TQ in the 4wd modified class. With Mike Truhe, Steven Just and JP Richards all in attendance the main events were surely no easy task for the quick AE duo.

During the main events the TQ drivers dominated. Chad Due with his freshly prepped AE vehicles out matched everyone in 2 straight mains to take the 2wd modified and modified truck classes in convincing fashion. With all the local support and confidence, Chad patiently awaited the 2wd Short Course A-main to see if he could sweep the event for the first time ever. Teammate Kody Numedahl took care of business in the 4wd modified A-mains by racking up 2 quick A1 and A2 victories to seal the deal very early as well.

All eyes were on the single 7 minute 2wd SCT modified A-main. With everything on the line it was a barn burner between the top 3 drivers. Chad Due who recently took the 2wd and Racing Truck A-mains looked confident early on but the Richards brothers (JP and Dustin) would not go away very easily. The 3 JConcepts drivers looked untouchable while freight-training around the track for several minutes but in the end Due’s speed was too much and he took a comfortable 2 second lead and the overall victory. JP Richards finished 2nd and Dustin Richards 3rd.

Appreciation goes out to Trackside Hobbies and Raceway, Scotty Ernst Productions and Spektrum on another special event.

JQ Products race report

Tanner Stees Battles at the Beach

1st Tanner Stees JQ
2nd Mason Elliott XRAY
3rd Shane Lyon Mugen

Tanner Stees, our smallest team driver, but as you can see, with one of the biggest bags of talent, headed out to the annual Battle on the Beach race at Lake Havasu. Here is his report:

On Oct 27-28 I traveled to Lake Havasu City, AZ for the Battle on the Beach race for the second year in a row. I really like this track. The people that promote it and attend the race are great. The weather was sunny and about 85 all weekend. The track was new and a bit loose but it packed in and had good traction as the weekend went on.

I was racing 4 classes: 1/8 scale nitro buggy, truggy, 1/10 2wd mod buggy and Pro2 Short Course. Open practice was Friday and we arrived in time to get about 4 hours of practice to sort things out.

Saturday was 3 rounds of qualifying and I knew I’d be busy. My JQ Products THE Car was not bad but we made a few changes to get more steering for the tight track after round 1 and THE Car got much better and handling everything I could throw at it. My JQ Products THE Engine was running awesome also and making plenty of power for this track with a 6.5mm carb insert.

1/8th Buggy qualifying came down to the last round for TQ and starting on the pole, I had to go 18 laps in 7 minutes to beat out a 17/7:00 flat by Jason Miller. I had Proline Snipers (soft) on and the track was almost perfect. I was able to put in an 18/7:20 run to secure TQ.

On Sunday the main was 30 minutes and I started out front. The track was similar to the last round of qualifying so I went with Proline Tazers in soft. During the first 15 minutes I had a small bobble and dropped to second behind Jason Miller. I battled back to first. As the race went on I kept the lap times consistent and hit my marks and took the win buy a lap over Mason Elliott. The car and engine worked great all weekend. This win was the fourth for the day as I was able to take 1st in all the classes I ran.

Thank You JQ Products for an awesome car and engine.

You are welcome Tanner, great job!
